Two books written years ago predict Coronavirus.. sorta
You know how it goes… there’s always that one friend that sends you questionable stuff he believes is real. lol Well, this was like every other time… he sends me an image of this page from a book with the word “Wuhan-400” circled. Apparently, Dean Koontz predicted the Coronavirus in a book he wrote almost 40 years ago…
Of course, the first thing I do is run to snopes. Coles notes: Their conclusion: Mostly False. Mostly?! Whaaat? I totally expected it to say false in big red letters, but it seems the pages we are seeing around the internet are real!

Here are a few things this “prediction” gets wrong:
- In Koontz’s novel, “Wuhan-400” is a human-made weapon. The coronavirus, on the other hand, was not.
- In the novel, “Wuhan-400” has a 100% fatality rate. While researchers are still learning about the coronavirus, the current fatality rate sits at about 2%.
- The fictional “Wuhan-400” has an extremely quick incubation period of about four hours, compared to COVID-19 which has an incubation period between two and 14 days.
Hmm maybe they need to update that first reason to inconclusive? 😬 The other two reasons, well, it’s a book, 2% doesn’t have the same impact – and yikes, deadly quick incubation? I’d say 14 days is way worse. Regardless, the whole thing is bizarre!
Dean Koontz wrote this book under his pen name “Leigh Nichols” in 1981. The original book described the virus as Gorki-400, a Russian made virus. 😛 Then for some reason he reissued the book in 2008 which included renaming the virus to Wuhan-400, a Chinese variant. It’ll be interesting to see what he has to say. Obviously it’s just a big coincidence, but it’s all so “Twilight Zone”!
As for the other future prediction, that was also published in 2008 by Sylvia Browne with Lindsay Harrison – End of Days: Predictions and Prophecies About the End of the World. Honestly, the title of the book is ominous all on it’s own. And it’s predictions! And they sorta got it right! — It can vanish anytime soon now!
